
On 21 May 2026, Mediator Nguyen Thi Mai assumed the position of Director of the Vietnam Mediation Centre (VMC), operating under the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC).
Mediator Nguyen Thi Mai is currently a VMC Mediator and a VIAC listed Arbitrator. With extensive expertise in mediation, arbitration, and commercial business law, Ms. Mai is among the highly experienced professionals who have made significant contributions to the promotion and development of out-of-court dispute resolution mechanisms in Vietnam.
Prior to taking on her new role at VMC, Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai had nearly 30 years of service at the Ministry of Justice, including 10 years as Deputy Director General of the Department of Judicial Support. During her tenure, she was directly involved in the development of numerous important legal documents in the fields of judicial support and dispute resolution, including the Law on Property Auction, the Law on Lawyers, the Law on Commercial Arbitration,the Law on Notarisation, and various other legal documents submitted and promulgated by the Ministry of Justice. Notably, she alsochaired and directly participated in the drafting of Decree No. 22/2017/ND-CP on Commercial Mediation.
Ms. Mai holds a Bachelor of Laws from Moldova State University (former Soviet Union), and a Master of Laws from Fukuoka University, Japan. She is fluent in Vietnamese, English, and Russian, and has extensive experience in negotiation, management of international cooperation projects, and participation in domestic and international conferences and seminars on arbitration, commercial mediation, the legal profession, and judicial support institutions.
